The University of Tampa major in sport management was recently named an
approved program by the National Association for Sport and Physical
Education (NASPE) and the North American Society for Sport Management
(NASSM).
Sport management resides within the Department of
Exercise Science and Sport Studies and provides training to students who
desire a professional career in a variety of sport business fields.
NASPE
is the preeminent national authority on physical education and a
recognized leader in sport and physical activity. NASPE is a nonprofit
professional membership association that sets the standard for practice
in physical education and sport.
NASSM promotes, stimulates, and
encourages study, research, scholarly writing, and professional
development in the area of sport management—both theoretical and applied
aspects.
According to the NASSM, there are 221 sports management
programs in the United States. Of those, 48 have been approved by the
NASSM and 50 by the NASPE.
