A
news segment featuring Dan Huber, UT assistant professor of biology,
appeared on Bay News 9 on Tuesday, Aug. 21. The segment described
Huber’s research analyzing the “bite force” and feeding mechanics of
great white sharks. Earlier this summer Huber traveled to Australia to
dissect a rare 8-foot great white shark and create the first high-res 3D
computer model of its bite. View the Bay News 9 report.
Huber’s
research may lead to advances in protective swimwear, shark-proofing
equipment and a better understanding of flexible cartilage – which forms
the sharks’ whole skeletons.
Other news stories featuring Huber
and his research have appeared in The Discovery Channel, The Sydney
Morning Herald, The Australian, The Daily Telegraph and Australia’s
version of MSN.
