Apartment Express partner David
Lowrey concludes UT’s Inc. 500 Series on Friday, April 21, 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m. in
the Reeves Theater, second floor of the Vaughn Center. Admission is
$10.
Leading Florida entrepreneurs have highlighted the series presented
by the John H. Sykes College of Business and hosted by Dr. Dianne Welsh,
professor of management and the James W. Walter distinguished chair of
entrepreneurship. The speakers in the series are 2005 Inc. 500 winners,
identifying them as leaders of some of the nation’s fastest-growing privately
held firms.
Lowrey is equal partner with Christopher Mercer in Apartment
Express Corporate Housing Inc. in Tampa. Starting in 1999, they built the
business from scratch to more than $5 million in revenue in 2005.
He
had hoped to be a college history professor, but after reading Anthony Robbins’s
book Awaken the Giant Within his senior year of college, Lowrey left school in
1995 to pursue becoming a successful entrepreneur. Profits at the end of 1999
worked out to be about 10 cents an hour, but by 2003, the business had grown
into a member of the Inc. 500.
