The UT license plate is in danger of becoming a collector’s item.
In spring 2004, the state of Florida enacted legislation that requires a
minimum of 1,000 of any specialty plate be sold each year. Sales of the UT
license plate currently fall short.
As of February, 580 UT license plates had been sold.
Cost is an additional $27 over the price of a regular tag. Florida residents can
purchase by bringing their driver's license and vehicle registration to their local
Florida tag agency.
Since the plate became available in 2003, proceeds from sales of the UT
license plate have been used to help support scholarships and academic
programs.
“Buying one of these plates is a great way to show Spartan pride and in the
process help enhance the scholarships and the educational experience at the
University of Tampa,” said UT President Ronald Vaughn.
