Las Damas de Arte, a Tampa
cultural organization that celebrates women in the arts, will hold its annual
fundraising art show and sale March 14-31 at the Scarfone/Hartley Galleries.
The event opens Sunday, March 14 with a gala, “Sunday in the Arts,” 5:30-8
p.m., that will offer fine food and beverages from Too-Jays Original Gourmet
Deli, Grille 29, Mad Dogs & Englishmen, Longhorn Steakhouse, and Café viva
La Frida. There also will be wine tasting; live entertainment by the Michael
Ross Duo, Molten Mike and Dr. Good Sax; and a silent auction.
The exhibition will feature works for sale by more than 50 acclaimed women
artists whose works include paintings, drawings, photographs, jewelry, fiber,
ceramics, sculpture and mixed media.
Admission for Sunday evening, March 14, is $25 in advance, $30 at the door.
Patron passes, $50 each, entitle bearers to a 5 p.m. special preview and a
listing in the program. Proceeds benefit UT, USF and HCC art scholarships. Other
community organizations assisted financially by Las Damas de Arte include: the
Spring, Hospice, AIDS Art Reach and MacDonald Training Center. Sponsors include
UT, Smith Barney Citigroup, Dollar Realty & Mortgage, and Franklin’s
Printing.
The exhibition continues through Wednesday, March 31. Admission is free
during regular gallery hours, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, and 1-4 p.m. on
Saturday.
