Three bay area residents are
among The University of Tampa’s 38 students journeying overseas this semester to
22 schools in nine countries on four continents, plus the multinational Semester
at Sea.
It is by far the largest UT study abroad group yet in a program that has
grown exponentially. Last spring, 27 students participated in the program, and
the returning group from fall numbered 24. In the fall 2002 semester, 16
students participated, and in spring 2002, only 10 shipped out. The spring 2004
figure registers a nearly 400 percent increase in two years.
Of the three bay area residents in this spring’s group, Brandi Keith, a
senior history major, and Robin Schwarm, a senior marketing major, are both
headed for England’s renowned Oxford University, while Ryan Lester, a junior
communication major, is off to Richmond, the American International University
in England. All three students are residents of Tampa.
