The University of Tampa has hired University alumna Jenna S. Venero, '89 as
director of safety and security.
Venero is a 1992 graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. She
also graduated from the State Police Certification Academy in 1977, UT with a
Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree in 1989, and the FDLE Criminal Justice
Executive Institute in 1997.
After beginning her law enforcement career as a campus patrol officer at the
University of Miami in 1974, Venero joined state law enforcement in 1977,
progressing through the ranks to major, and serving as regional commander and
bureau chief for the Florida Marine Patrol Tampa and Crystal River field
offices.
Retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1997, Venero is an FMP reserve officer.
She also is active in the community as a member of the board of the Athena
Society, Habitat for Humanity, WEDU Community Advisory Board, and is a Boy
Scouts of America parent volunteer and assistant pack leader.
Venero reports to the UT campus as safety and security director on Monday,
July 28.
