Dr. Rebecca White, director of the Florida Entrepreneur Center at The University of Tampa, was recently awarded the President’s Distinguished Service Award by the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE).

White has served the USASBE as chair of its largest and most active division (pedagogy), as a board member, as a liaison to the association’s interest groups and as a program chair. She has also provided leadership in revamping the USASBE distinguished awards program.

According to Michael Morris, immediate past president of USASBE, White is one of the most deserving recipients of the service award.

“Our experience is that Dr. White brings a high level of professionalism and a strong standard of excellence to every activity in which she is involved,” Morris said.

White joined UT last August as the Distinguished Walter Chair in Entrepreneurship. She had served as professor of management and director of the Fifth Third Bank Entrepreneurship Institute at Northern Kentucky University. White received an MBA and a doctorate in strategic management, marketing and entrepreneurship from Virginia Tech University.

Founded more than 25 years ago, USASBE is the largest academic organization in the United States exclusively devoted to entrepreneurship education and research.
