Ethnic Organizations Sought for International Celebration

Published: Aug 29, 2001

With the UT/Tampa Recreation International Celebrations Kickoff Event just around the corner, event planners are busily seeking participants. Ethnic organizations are invited to present displays, costumes or activity demonstrations.

Formerly the International Festival, a one-weekend event, International Celebrations showcases ethnic folk dance, music, arts, crafts and activities through a series of community events throughout the year. The Kickoff Event is in UT’s Plant Park and Plant Hall on Friday, Sept. 21 from 5-9 p.m.

Ethnic organizations may participate with a display of costumes, culture, folk art, activities or information about a specific country, region or culture. (Note: Displays of a religious or political nature will not be considered.)

Deadline to apply to participate in the International Celebrations Kickoff is Monday, Aug. 20.
