Career Specialties: Chris Gurrie specializes in public speaking, professional presentations and research involving communication education and technology. He also has expertise with leadership and training activities.
Professional and Community Activities: Gurrie is an active public speaker and participates in invited lectures, workshops and conferences in the areas of faculty development, first year life and leadership, communicating effectively with PowerPoint, and communication and immediacy. Recent research in the areas of communication education, immediacy and technology has resulted in articles published in communication and first year outlets. Gurrie is an advocate of experiential learning and has participated in first year activities at UT as the chairman of the First Year Committee and as a faculty advisor. In addition, he has led several education abroad classes to Europe. Gurrie has participated in a number of community activities and was recognized as a Tampa Bay Times Rising Star in 2007.
