“Art of the Book” Kicks off Fall 2013 Honors Symposia
The Fall 2013 Honors Program symposia series kicks off today with a presentation by Richard Mathews, Dana professor of English and writing and director of UT Press and Tampa Review, called “Art of the Book: The Clash of Ideas and the Shape of Learning.” Mathews’ talk begins at 5 p.m. in the Vaughn Center 9th Floor Trustees’ Room on the UT campus.
Guest speakers in the series include José Manuel Garcia, professor of modern languages at Florida Southern College, who will speak on his experience as a survivor of the Mariel Boatlift on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. in Reeves Theater.
All lectures are free and open to the public and held on the UT campus. For a full schedule, see below:

- Thursday, Oct. 24: “The Acting Principles of Konstantin Stanislavski and their Relevance to Choral Conducting,” Ryan Hebert, assistant professor of music, director of choral studies and University organist, Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values, 4 p.m.
