Teaching is an important part of Joo Baek Kim's academic career. He has always enjoyed teaching students not only as a way of transferring knowledge but also as a way of interacting with people and helping their personal development. He has taught various topics in information systems including IT innovations, business intelligence and database management.
Kim's research interests span several fields including the use of serious games in business education/training, gamification in business, IT strategy in organizations, organizational technology adoption and pragmatic use of qualitative/quantitative research methods. All these research interests are concluded with one ultimate goal: effective use of information systems and technology to improve our society. He has been working on several research projects on these areas, among which were published in the APJIS, HICSS, AMCIS and DSI proceedings.Before he joined UT, he had worked at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Samsung Economic Research Institute (SERI) and Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI).
